Local keyword research
How people in your area search for what you sell, including the phrasing locals use that a national keyword tool will underrate.
Local SEO for small business is a different discipline from national organic search. When someone searches a service alongside a place, Google weighs proximity, your Google Business Profile, the consistency of your business data and how relevant your pages are to that area.
Local search optimization is mostly a consistency problem. The signals are not complicated, but they have to agree with each other everywhere they appear.

Substantial pages for the services and places where you genuinely operate, each with content that could not be copied to the next town.
Name, address and phone details matching exactly across the site, your Google Business Profile and any directory that lists you.
A repeatable process for requesting genuine reviews, responding to them, and keeping the profile active with real updates.
Someone searching for a solicitor in a named city is not researching the concept of legal representation. They are looking for a firm to contact, usually today. That makes local search visibility disproportionately valuable: fewer searches than a broad national term, but a far higher share of them are ready to act.
It also means the bar for the landing page is different. The visitor needs to establish quickly that you cover their area, that you handle their specific problem, and how to reach you. Anything that delays those three answers costs enquiries.
The temptation is to generate a page for every town within an hour's drive. It rarely works and often does harm. Search engines are good at recognising templated location pages, and a site full of thin duplicates weakens the pages that were genuinely worth having.
Our rule is simple: a location page exists when you actually serve that area and can say something specific about doing so — the kind of work you do there, how you get to clients, local considerations that affect the service. If you cannot fill it honestly, the area belongs in a single well-built regional page instead.
Local rankings draw on both your site and your Google Business Profile, and inconsistency between them is one of the most common self-inflicted problems we find. A different phone number on the profile, an old address in a directory, service categories that do not match the pages on the site — each one weakens the signal. Fixing that is unspectacular work with a reliably good return, and it runs alongside Google Business Profile optimization.
Local rankings vary by the searcher's exact position, so a single position number means little. More useful measures are profile views and direction requests, calls originating from search, impressions and clicks for location-qualified queries in Search Console, and the enquiry volume actually reaching your inbox. Those are the numbers we report on.
General SEO competes for searches wherever they happen. Local SEO competes for searches tied to a place — a service plus a city, or a query where Google infers the user wants somebody nearby. The ranking signals overlap but are not the same, and local results are heavily influenced by your Google Business Profile and location data.
No, but you do need a defined service area and a genuine presence in it. Service-area businesses that visit customers can rank locally without a public address. What does not work is claiming coverage in places you do not actually serve.
Only where you genuinely operate and can say something specific about working there. Dozens of near-identical pages with the place name swapped are treated as spam and tend to drag the whole site down. A smaller number of substantial pages performs better.
Significant, and they influence the click as much as the ranking. What matters is a steady, genuine flow with responses from the business. We help set up a process for requesting reviews properly; we do not write or buy them.
Local results often move faster than national ones, particularly where the profile and location data were previously neglected. Improvement within two to three months is common, though competitive city-level terms take longer.
