Small Business Web Design That Earns Its Place

Professional web design services for companies that need the website to do a job: explain the offer, hold up in search results, and turn attention into enquiries. Custom web design and development, built responsive and SEO-ready from the first wireframe.

THE PROBLEM

Most business websites fail quietly.

They load, they look acceptable, and they produce almost nothing. The failure is rarely visual.

01

Nobody can find it

The site was designed page by page with no view of what people actually search for, so it never competes for the terms that matter.

02

Visitors cannot tell what you do

The homepage opens with a slogan instead of a plain statement of the service, the market and the reason to choose you.

03

It is slow or awkward on a phone

Most visits are mobile. A layout that only works on a laptop loses people before they read anything.

04

There is no obvious next step

A contact link buried in the footer is not a conversion path. The next action has to be visible wherever the decision gets made.

Working session reviewing a business website layout and structure
Structure decisions are made before design, when changing them is still cheap.
SEO-FIRST DEVELOPMENT

SEO-friendly web design means decisions made during the build.

Retrofitting search visibility onto a finished site is expensive and always partial. We do the keyword and intent research first, and the results decide the page structure, the headings and what each page has to answer.

1

Pages that match real demand

Each important service gets its own page because that is how people search, not because it fills the menu.

2

Clean, crawlable markup

One H1 per page, a logical heading hierarchy, descriptive internal links and meaningful alt text.

3

Speed treated as a requirement

Compressed images, minimal scripts and no framework loaded for the sake of it. Fast is a design constraint, not an optimisation phase.

4

Measurement from day one

Analytics and Search Console are configured before launch, so the first month of data is usable.

What a professional web design project includes

  • Build, with defined review rounds rather than open-ended revisions
  • On-page SEO setup: titles, meta descriptions, headings, schema, sitemap, robots.txt
  • Contact form with validation and confirmation
  • Google Analytics and Search Console configuration
  • Accessibility basics: contrast, focus states, keyboard navigation, alt text
  • Launch, plus a handover document you can act on without us

Custom web design, not a template with your logo dropped in

Templates are fast and cheap, and they show. More importantly they force your business into someone else's structure, which is exactly the part that determines whether the site ranks and converts. We design the structure around your services, then design the pages to fit it.

That does not mean reinventing every interface pattern. Navigation, forms and buttons should behave the way visitors already expect. The custom part is what goes on each page and in what order, not making people learn a new set of controls.

Conversion is a structure problem before it is a design problem

A visitor decides in seconds whether you are relevant. The pages are built so that the service, who it is for, what it involves, and how to start are all answerable without having to hunt for them while scrolling. Calls to action appear where the decision is actually made, not only at the bottom of the page.

What happens after launch

A business website is not finished at launch, it is just live. Ongoing SEO work, content updates and technical monitoring are what turn a good build into compounding results. Those run as a separate monthly service, described under website maintenance services, and you are not obliged to take them from us.

QUESTIONS

Web design questions we get most.

How much does small business web design cost?

Every build is quoted from a written scope covering page count, content, integrations and the level of SEO and automation involved. Package prices and what each one includes are listed on the pricing page.

How long does a business website take to build?

A focused five to eight page site typically runs four to six weeks from approved scope to launch. The two things that move that date are how quickly content and brand material arrive, and how many integrations the project needs.

Do I need to supply the text and photos?

You do not have to write the copy. We draft it from the discovery call and your existing material, and you review it. Photography is either supplied by you or sourced from licensed stock, agreed before it goes on the page.

Will the website work properly on phones?

Yes. Responsive web design is part of every build, and layouts are checked on phone, tablet and desktop widths before launch rather than treated as a final tidy-up.

Who owns the website when it is finished?

You do. The domain, hosting account, analytics and content belong to your business. If you later move to another provider, the site and its data go with you.

Can you redesign a site instead of starting over?

Often, yes. If the existing content and URLs are worth keeping, a redesign is usually the cheaper and safer route. That work is described on the website redesign page.
